About
A practice built
on conviction.
Urban Colab Architecture is a Michigan-based design practice working at the intersection of high-craft residential design and adaptive reuse. We take on a small number of projects at any given time — deliberately.
The Practice
Urban Colab Architecture is a Michigan-based design practice working at the intersection of high-craft residential design and adaptive reuse.
Our clients are homeowners who want a home that will last, developers who understand that existing buildings have irreplaceable value, and institutions ready to reinvest in underperforming assets.
Who We Serve
-
Families building a primary residence
Clients ready to invest in a home designed specifically for their life — not adapted from a developer's catalogue.
-
Property owners with existing structures
Owners who see the potential in what's already there: warehouses, farmsteads, commercial buildings, and other underused assets.
-
Mission-aligned developers
Partners who prioritize design quality, community fit, and long-term value over short-term margin.

How We Work
01
Listen
Every project begins with an extended conversation. We want to understand not just the program and budget, but how you live, what you value, and what you've always wanted.
02
Conceive
We develop a concept that responds specifically to your site, program, and vision — tested through sketches, models, and frank discussion before a contract document is drawn.
03
Refine
Design development is iterative and collaborative. We work through every decision — from structural strategy to door hardware — with the same level of care.
04
Build
We remain engaged through construction, working closely with contractors to ensure the building is realized as designed. The project isn't done until you're in it.
